Today, savegooglewave.com would like to introduce to you EASY Fitbit Charge HR broken band repair without glue. Following along are instructions in the video below:
“This is trent with races for dinner calm today we re working on a fitbit. Fitbit. Twos band has broken off this is the fitbit charge hr and apparently this a factory defect on this particular. Fitbit.
Where the band can come free from the device. And this one s almost all the way detached. And this is not one of the fitbit s that s designed to have the band changed. So once it comes off fitbit will tell you that the only option is to replace.
It..
This one is under warranty and fitbit has already sent a new one out. But for those who have this fitbit. The charge hr with a broken band and it s not under warranty or fitbit won t help you with it. Then this is a potential option for you i did try and glue this one that didn t hold.
But then i got the idea of putting some heat shrink tubing around the band to hold the band tightly against the device and on this side. It was peeling up as well so i ve already put some heat shrink tubing on this side and it goes all the way around and when you apply heat to this particular type of tubing it shrinks and it holds the new smaller size indefinitely. So i figured if i can stretch the this half inch heat. Shrink tubing around the band and the device that potentially it would hold that to the hold the band to the device without glue without tape and this band is obviously green and the heat shrink tubing that i have is black.
But it does come in other colors including green..
I know it s i ve seen it in orange and red and black in green and yellow. So the first thing. I m going to do is just stretch it out a little bit so that we can get this to slide over the bracelet or the wristband and then i ll just turn it a little bit so that the black part is out and you can see that there s a little bit of play in there. So now we ll apply some heat and a blow dryer is sufficient for this i wouldn t go much hotter than that you may damage your your wristband or the device itself you may burn yourself.
I m just using hot air from my hot air soldering station. I ve got the temperature dial down to 180 degrees. And the air pressure. I just got it set at four and a half which is sufficient to shrink the tubing without damaging the bracelet or the band or the device itself and so now that it s shrunk.
You can see that it holds it on there pretty good and we ll put this other larger piece on the back end of this..
So that it looks like we re blocking one of the sensors. Here so we ll just pull this down. A little bit may have to cut a little segment of it off these are the sensors that detect your heart rate. So we don t want to cover them up see if we can shrink that a little more since that sensor is partially covered.
What i m going to do is take this hobby knife and we ll just cut out a little section of the heat shrink okay so now we have both sensors. Showing and visible. So now we ll stretch out this larger piece. I m just using a pair of pliers here put the jaws of the pliers through the heat shrink.
Tubing and open the handles and it will stretch it out a little bit..
And i m just using the pliers to pull it up so that it s on the device itself and we ll shrink this one and that s it this is on there really good it may eventually fail again i suspect that it will. But it s a temporary fix for those of you that use the fitbit and you have a broken band. Then this will maybe get you back in action. Until you can get a new one or maybe it ll last for a long time.
I know it s not as pretty as it used to be like i said you can get this tubing in colors so you can maybe match your fitbit. A little better but leastwise without gluing it back together. It is back in action. Thanks for watching this ” .
