“Laughter laughter laughter okay johnny marr and the smiths and how soon is now sounds sounds feminine with a sec. Okay so i m gonna start by being slightly controversial saying. I don t think this is in open tuning. I m pretty sure they play it in probably open ear flaps.
Basically tuning use your strings down. A semitone. If you try playing it in normal open tuning. It just sounds just slightly higher to me.
But anyway shoot me down if you want it s not problem so either tune it down or dunk. What s up to you. But if you want to it s an e that s when flat i use my flat d to d flat g. To a g flat lead to a b flat and e to an e flat is tournament death.
You know genome will down a semitone. Okay that said now this is not that hard to play is just the settings on everything you ve got so let s start with that for the verse and i ve written it down. I have to write it down. I ve got a compressor.
I ve got a tube overdrive. A delay. Which is an echo flex. A reverb and a tremolo.
So. The compressor set at 2 3. Level 1 3. Sustain.
And a half attack. The overdrive set to 1 4..
Drive 2 3 town and full level delay is set to half. Volume a time of 06. Seconds. A repeater 36 and the multi at quarters and the reverb is on a haul mid level 2 3.
Liveliness now. I ve got my pedal is like a more people have got a couple of more if ever searching. But that tremolo is pretty crap on one of them. Which is a shame because it means.
There s a lot of balance to get everything to work. So. So i m using a tremolo of my gt. 10.
Which is set at a rate of 80 for 100 the depths 100 and the the wave shape is 100. Now this 84 to me is quite important because ie. 3. Is just way too slow an 85 just too fast at the bandwidth is tiny.
Anyway. If you haven t trouble with some of the notes. Sound and you might want to set the depth down a bit anyway. Without further ado the capo set on the second fret.
We ve got this e. We re just gonna be taking off this index finger of the d string from the capo is o2. I know it s an e shape. It s not an ee as such.
But it s a nice shape especially an f sharp over 2 to 1 you keep taking this ring finger off and put it back on again you know try to make that sound out. But you re gonna miss it sometimes because the tremolo will take it away so then i m going to take it up to or to a g shape..
And then an a shape. So you can either do lots of ways to do this. So you can either do g. G63.
200. 300 to an ace us lol. Oh. That s eerie.
We can play a bit further up the neck from g shape. The fillet shape. A shape one more personal favorite. This one a lots of nice open strings in that.
And it s basically taking your a shape up three frets. Laughter laughter like my favorite and i m staying with it you pick your own okay. She do that a couple times. And as you come out you re going.
Some chorus now we re going to switch off the overdrive and switch off the tremolo and i d like to change the reverb as well. But i can t not without a lot more messing around so much cleaner sound. So that is from the capo. 0.
02 for they leave the index finger on that say the little finger off and put the middle finger on the first fret of the a string. But policy. I denied it would have been and a 4g to d major. 7.
G3. 200 3 3..
And so those two threat to them strings up for the fifth right down again then for the bar across this d major 7. Our two to two i m gonna finish with this octave. Oh 204 205 o7 all in you got that there s another way of doing that and that s the way johnny plays that we see in it so he does a start the same well you can finish the octave. The octave noise.
Good you can slow it up okay. So let s go into that from verse you get back into the a. We re gonna put those the distortion and the and the tremolo back on then take norfolk laughter. Okay.
That s basically it that s all you re doing really first in the chorus right i might need to stop and start again to do the train bit. The train is kind of cool. So what i ve actually done is i ve i ve done the train bit put it in a loop pedal. So you just press the button and it goes because i got so many pedals a cup.
I need free feet. I need someone else s foot to press. The pedals okay anyway. Let s stop there and see if i can show you how to do the train okay the second part this train.
So i m going to overdub. Now. You ve got your guitar set down to e flat. If you ve done the rest of this.
But we re gonna put the g string back up to a a g. So you re still running use two strings to me. And the g string g. s on g.
And the b is on a b flat you tuned it down a little bit so i ll try loads of ways of doing this and none of them are particularly brilliant. But this is the best i could come up with and maybe you can come up so it better..
Which is engraving you so pedal for a start. This is the main thing. I ve got chorus overdrive digital delay and a reverb. The chorus has set to a speed of seven a depth of 99.
The overdrive is set to a level of full the drive is full and the tone is mid you know middle of the range. Digital today is on a time of 001. Repeats. 17.
The level is full and the molt is on quarter and the spring is a spring reverb and it s on full saying right so that s the sound kind of like we re looking for but i m also just to add a little insult doing i m also using the while pedal. So because when you do this it s loud straightaway and you know i m on the actual song it comes in and goes out doesn t it it s like it s going past you so you gotta use the world. So open. The wild pedal up that s from cusp of the 12th fret.
So right on the line. There down to the line of the ninth fret. The top line of the night. So it s like a nice 211 really i suppose top of the 11th fret okay.
Anyone said i m a looper so that i can add it to the song. I meant i ll add it to the track a minute so i hope that s been helpful. It is it s quite easy to play. It s just a pain in the backside sorting out your pedals on that.
And i hope you have great luck with it much respect if you have please subscribe comment on the channel. If you get a chance i do appreciate it and i do try to reply. If i can t but i m all of ” ..
